OUR CHARITIES
Independent Living Inc. Pediatric Therapy employees have contributed hundreds of volunteer hours towards many community service projects. We find giving back to the community is one way we motivate our employees. However, given the caring nature of our employees, these activities come easily and selflessly whether the company is involved or not! The past few years, Independent Living Inc.’s office staff created an Angel Tree during the holiday season to provide gifts for our clients. We have provided gifts for about 250 children during the holidays. We also provide backpacks full of school supplies each year for about 25 children.
We also help raise awareness, money, or advocate for various large organizations:
We supported the GFWC New Tampa Junior Woman’s Club by sponsoring their annual fundraiser for the last two years. Some of our employees are board members of the GFWC New Tampa Junior Woman’s Club. Please visit their website, GFWC New Tampa Junior Woman’s Club, if you would like to join.
We went “behind bars” for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). It took roughly $4500 to bail out MDA’s MOST WANTED jailbirds. We’ll be looking for you to be our next great partner in crime as we plan to raise much more awareness and donations for muscle disease research in the near future. Make sure you are a member of our newsletter to find out exactly when the MDA police are after us again!
We walked miles in support of Autism Speaks as we raised over $2500. Autism Speaks is dedicated to funding research into the causes, prevention, treatments and a cure for autism; increasing awareness of autism spectrum disorders; and advocating for the needs of individuals with autism and their families. Get your walking shoes on, and sign up for our newsletter as we’ll be sending out an invite to our next walk for Autism Speaks. We want YOU as part of our team!
Our friends, Kimmie and Howie Fine, have started a non-profit for Tampa Bay area families of children on the Autistic Spectrum in honor of their son Jacob. Our goal is to fund therapy services, doctor visits and education expenses for as many deserving families as we can every year. Please visit their website, Jacob’s Touch, to see upcoming charity events, and to contact them if you are a family in need.
Our therapists and staff are also involved in many other organizations:
Our employees wear many hats both personally and professionally making a huge difference throughout the community and in people’s lives. We are extremely proud of our team!
