THERAPY UPDATES REGARDING COVID-19

Learn about the changes we have made to our pediatric therapy services during this period of self-isolation.

Let's Talk therapy

With so much change and uncertainty, we want to let you know that your therapists at Independent Living Inc. are stable, healthy, and here to help. We do not have the answer for everything, but we have decided to transition all services to teletherapy and temporarily suspend face-to-face services. We know that you need us more now than ever.

Despite our physical clinics being closed, there’s no reason to expect this change to affect the level of service that you expect of us. We are still staffed with occupational therapists, speech therapists, physical therapists, behavioral therapists, and early interventionists.

Our team continues to answer the phones and respond to emails. While we hope the risk of this outbreak passes as quickly as possible, as a company and humans- we are all in this together. Overcoming this crisis will require patience and leadership on every level, starting with what we can do to protect our families, our friends, and our community. Know that we remain committed to you, your family, continued positive outcomes. We hope you stay healthy and safe!

TELETHERAPY SERVICES

I will teach you in a room.

Independent Living Inc. is offering Teletherapy services for speech, occupational, physical, early intervention, and behavioral therapy services.

Teletherapy is the online delivery of therapeutic services via live video conferencing, which requires equipment such as a computer or tablet and wifi.  Most of our therapists are using the platform ‘Zoom’, which is the same platform that the Hillsborough County School District E-learning program is using.

The version of Zoom that our company uses is also HIPPA compliant. This technological way of delivering therapy services ensures that our kiddos still get their therapeutic needs met during this uncertain time. Some advantages of virtual therapy include flexibility in scheduling, accessibility for those with physical limitations, group participation for caregivers and siblings, convenient parent training in the natural environment, and learning how to think outside the box.  Our therapists feel very fortunate to still make a connection with our clients on the computer or tablet.

If you are interested in teletherapy services, please reach out to your child’s therapist or coordinator. Thank you!
